Saving Lives

SES: First Aid

Well, today I started a level 2 First Aid Course.

For those of you who don't know, I am now an active member of the Emerald State Emergency Service (SES). I have a pager and attend call outs to storm damage jobs, Road Crash Rescue and Search and Rescue Jobs.

It is all very interesting, and the first aid course is the first formal training course that I have participated in, and it is turning out to be very practical and hands on, which I think is fantastic.

Today we learned how to perform CPR correctly, and how to treat some other injuries, such as eye, skin and other cuts and lacerations. I am sure they have a lot in store for us again tomorrow, and I am really looking forward to it.
